Artifact 1
Description
This is an instructional plan for an online audio engineering course aimed at college students. This is designed to be a first year studies (FYS) course.
Rationale
Preparation for the design of this course included interviews with two prospective music students and a distance learner educator. The instructional plan includes instructional strategies that are tied to desired outcomes. Major objectives for the course are set, as well as assessment strategies to see if objectives are met. This shows my ability to create and use instructional processes with proper content knowledge and pedagogy, as well as proper assessment and evaluation of learner outcomes and the learning environment.

Artifact 2
Description
This is an exploration of the role of creativity in the classroom, specifically relating to divergent thinking, play, creative storytelling, and the concept of the "wandering mind." I read and reviewed eight scholarly articles as well as a video lecture and synthesized their meaning into one cohesive statement.
Rationale
This literature review evidences my ability to consume and synthesize literature in instructional design as well as pull in relevant information from non-academic sources. This better enables me to incorporate strategies that benefit learner's creative thinking more effectively. It also demonstrates my understanding of theoretical foundations and methods in research.
